Inspired by ornithologist Tim Low’s award-winning book of the same name, this live performance explores the Australian origins of songbirds.
Such is their evolutionary significance, ‘one may ask whether human music would have reached the heights it has, had the first songbird not sung in an Australian rainforest.’
Contemplate the origin of birdsong with violinist Simone Slattery (PhD in Music Performance a regular performer with Australia’s finest ensembles) and cellist Anthony Albrecht (Australian graduate of NYC’s The Juilliard School’s Historical Performance Program, now London-based), playing music spanning 300 years, from the baroque to contemporary Australia, including new commissions. All to a backdrop of evocative digital images on the big screen.
A special and rare event for all ages. Tickets also available at the door.
