In a first for regional Victoria (or anywhere outside of Melbourne in fact!), the Melbourne Collage Assembly get out of the city for an exclusive exhibition in Port Fairy. The freshly formed group (est 2018) demonstrate the infinite possibilities of the collage art medium, where hand-dissected images are reassembled or placed to create new meaning. Come along to meet five artists who have exhibited or published works across the globe, and who now bring their new collection of original works to Winter Weekends.

It might be cold and wet outside, but inside the Reardon, the costumes and vibes are piping HOT. Strut back to ‘86 and the splendour of Bowie in a body suit and heeled boots. Journey with 15-year-old Sarah (Jennifer Connolly) on her quest through an enormous otherworldly maze to rescue her brother, who she wished away (accidentally on purpose) to the Goblin King (David Bowie). With mind-boggling puppet creatures designed in Jim Henson’s famous Creature Shop, your dress-up opportunities are endless, and more to the point, essential. Enjoy the in-cinema bar, move to the beats of ‘Magic Dance’, prepare for audience participation and battle for on-the-spot prizes. Tickets include a decadently themed welcome drink and Labyrinth-inspired dessert by Port Fairy maestro Andy of Audley & Hall.

Warm yo’ chest with a tasting from the southwest’s finest still! Malt, flavour, wash, barrels, timing, aging, notes, spirit – drink it all in, process and stories and more, across three of Timboon Distillery’s single malt Australian whiskies. Runs for a little over an hour, depending on how thirsty (for information) you are. Take the laneway to the hidden bluestone room, the site of Port Fairy’s oldest bakery, for this winter whisky event.
