Budding Buskers

Fri 19 July 5:30-8pm

All along Bank and Sackville Streets

Let’s fill the footpaths with song, comedy, poetry readings, breakdancing, mime, frozen statues, opera, instrumental music or whatever else you feel like performing live! All are welcome to bring out the mic (well, not the mimes) for a chance to win $500 in cash and prizes, including a master class with local former busker, singer-songwriter Flynn Gurry (who’ll also be judging on the night). Take it from the shower to the street, throw out the hat and bring the unsuspecting crowd to their knees with your unbridled talent. And to the audience: bring lots of change and show some love to these brave winter buskers!

For buskers: registrations are essential as Winter Weekends will organise your busking permit. Sheltered spots under the shop awnings will be allocated. Registrations are free.

Party In The Church: Late Night TV + Sunnyside + Jackson McLaren + DJs and Special Guests

Sat 6 July 6pm-late

St John’s Church, Regent St

Congregate and elevate under the arches for a night of higher sensation.

Late Night TV are a revolving cast of local and imported musicians of anywhere between 8-14 band members. Fresh from an outdoor performance at the inaugural Goomfest, they’re taking us for a hoon in the grand acousitics of St John’s. Drawing on the likes of Air, Bon Voyage Organisation and Kylie Minogue, expect pop-funk-fusions and steamy winter energy.

Sunnyside are a 6-piece Melbourne wonder squad on the cusp of big things! With the release of their second LP, get in the big house for thrusty, uplifting bangas.

Jackson McLaran is one of the many brilliant musical minds fermenting in the south west. A self-described folk artist, he’s developed into a well-rounded songwriter, touching on the sounds of Springsteen, Wilco and Talking Heads. Expect maximum Jackson for this special and highly anticipated performance. Plus DJs for an after party bash in the Church Hall. Bar opens 6pm, music in the Church from 7pm.
