Yossi Zoltan Klein in conversation with Tamara Irish

$30 includes tastings, guest speakers and cheese
Sun 25 June 3-5pm
Merrijig Inn, 3 Campbell St

Tamara Irish is an aesthete, Dante devotee, Cambridge University philosophy graduate, motorcycle rider and enthusiast, farmer of hogs, tuner-in to parliamentary Question Time, symphony lover, voracious reader, cheese tragic, amateur Shakuhachist - read: lover of all things Japanese culture and cuisine - and as a winemaker of some distinction, the recipient of Gourmet Traveller’s Small Cellar Door of the year 2022 - which is to say, a considered and considerably notable grapeslinger of Pinot varietals… good, bad and ugly.

Yossi Zoltan Klein is a writer, ex-thespian, media strategist, hobnobber about town (read: one of France-Soir’s most regular regulars) and hospitality stalwart.  As the publisher of Bread Wine and Thou, a food culture focused literary journal, he aspired to a writterly embodiment of Jean-Luc Godard’s dictum ‘rather than criticise them, just show them how it’s meant to be done.” Currently on a lack of funds furlough, this endeavour is perhaps best described as a work in progress.

Together, this Roy and HG Nelson double-act of our food and wine scene exemplifies how one man’s status of hospo royalty is another man’s has-been. The Merrijig is obviously delighted and outrageously excited to host these two triumphs for a loosely structured afternoon of conversation spanning the accidental breadths and haphazard depths inherent to their nature of being…or how they got to where they are. All of this over a selection of Tamara’s new release wines, and cheese of course. This will be a very special salon, with the promise of laughter or tears yet to be determined. There. We said it. Move quickly to book.
