The purpose of Winter Weekends is to contribute to cultural, economic and community growth of Port Fairy during what is traditionally the off-season in our region. We bring our coldest, slowest months to life! In the past two years, Winter Weekends has grown into a uniquely fresh program of over 100 diverse events.

The festival celebrates the produce, skills, arts, performance, history, people and environment of our beautiful town...and we'd love you to become a sponsor or host an event.

2019 festival dates

Weekend 1 - June 7, 8, 9 (June long weekend)

Weekend 2 - June 21, 22, 23

Weekend 3 - July 5, 6, 7 (Vic school holidays)

Weekend 4 - July 19, 20, 21

The festival runs every second weekend in June and July. 
Events are held on Friday nights, Saturdays and Sundays.
Generally, weekends are not themed - we embrace diversity and are happy to mix it up!

A rising festival and growing audience

  • In 2018, we hosted 106 events, with 80% of ticketed events sold out and many more events filled to capacity.

  • Over 3,000 people attended the Dachshund Dash, 300+ people attend the opening and closing parties and many hundreds enjoying all other events throughout the festival.

  • We experience outstanding coverage in Melbourne and local media, across TV, radio, online and print with over 150 media stories.

  • Our social media reach is expanding rapidly. We average 5,000+ weekly engagements on social media and 100+ unique website views every day. Over 90,000 people viewed posts on the Dachshund Dash alone!

  • Increasing visitation during the night with the magical Light Up Port Fairy displays, highlighting our iconic landscape and buildings and drawing people to town.

  • Our diverse program successfully caters for families, foodies, couples, those hungry to learn and arts-lovers. There is truly something for everyone.

  • We print 7,000 high quality booklets and 2,500 postcards, distributed across the region.

  • We promote your business or event for three months, spanning four weekends of festival activities. That's EXCELLENT value.

100% community festival

We are an old-school community festival willing to try new things! Winter Weekends is not-for-profit and completely volunteer-run by a committee of 13 people.

We are a passionate, creative, organised bunch of locals, dedicated to continuing the success of the last few years.

How does your event or sponsorship fee contribute to the festival?

  • Supporting a community festival that's increasingly well known and vibrant!

  • Paying for printing of quality booklets, posters, postcards and marketing material.

  • Contributing to our opening and closing parties, roving artist's fees, lighting equipment and other installations that add to creating a unique festival atmosphere.

  • Contributing to print and radio advertising in neighbouring regions.

  • Contributing to other bits and pieces like insurance, web hosting, design fees, opening

  • Ensuring community groups can run events for free, directing more money into sustaining their work!

Community event - FREE

  • For community and not-for-profit groups only. (eg schools, sports clubs, Rotary, Lions, community house, surf life saving club...)

  • Your event included in the program and published in the festival booklet and website.

  • Social media promotion of your event across Facebook and Instagram.

  • An excellent opportunity to raise awareness and/or funds for your group.

 

 

 

Business event - $200

  • Your event included in the festival program.

  • You can include more than one event or date with one fee of $200. Eg if you are a gallery, your exhibition can run for all festival dates.

  • Your event published in the festival booklet and website.

  • Your logo printed in 7,000 high quality festival booklets.

  • Your logo featured on the festival website.

  • Social media promotion of your event across Facebook and Instagram.

• 97% of people and 80% of businesses said the festival exceeded their expectations. Diversity of events, community spirit and communications rated highly.
