Workshop: Dinner And Astrophotography

$120 with dinner, $95 no dinner

Begin with delicious Thai dishes then walk and learn under the night sky. Led by Oat Vaiyaboon of Hanging Pixels Art, learn how to capture the stunning night sky and milky way. A practical session including what apps to use to plan your shoot, selecting optimum settings to reduce image noise and an intro to light painting. Find Oat on Instagram @hangingpixels_photo_art. Workshop: Getting off auto – unlocking your camera’s potential

.Stuck in auto mode? Have a fancy camera that you don’t really know how to use? Run by Warrnambool Camera Club, this hands-on workshop is all about making the most of those extensive menus and handy functions, then getting outside to practice. Bring your camera and operator’s manual (if you have it) and up-skill in time for the Port Fairy photo contest. Best suited for beginner to medium level. Over 15s only.  Groups limited to 15 people. Register via email

Oat Vaiyaboon of Hanging Pixels Art takes you on a roaming photographic tour of Port Fairy’s hidden treasures. Starting at the wharf and working down to East Beach and around the headland, gather tips and advice from one of the region’s most talented and passionate photographers. In this small-group workshop, learn about timing and positioning, HDR, long exposure techniques and filter usage to even out your exposure. Get your feet wet if you dare! Meet at Southcombe Park for a practical lesson on drone technology, permits, myths and capabilities. Then follow Oat to various sites for tips and stories from one of Port Fairy’s most wide-reaching photographers. Check him out on Instagram @hangingpixels_photo_art. Best suited to intermediate level. Over 15s only. Bring any type of camera. Limited to 20 people, first to arrive on the day.


Workshop: FAB PHONE PHOTOS - using camera phones effectively

While the phone could be the handiest camera device ever invented, are we taking the best pics and vids we can? This session, hosted by Warrnambool Camera Club, starts with tips on composition, lighting and framing before hitting the streets to put your new knowledge to the test.

Announcement of  Photo Contest Winners

After a week of careful consideration from an accredited panel including members of the Warrnambool Camera Club, acclaimed Port Fairy photojournalist Simon O’Dwyer and local photographer James Pevitt, come along to hear the winners announced. With big cash prizes on offer across three categories - $150 for junior amateur, $250 for senior amateur, $400 for professional - you’ll want to make sure your pics are in the inaugural photo comp.  

All welcome and encouraged to enter.
